Violet Boom

December 19, 1931 - April 11, 2016

Violet Boom entered God's Kingdom on April 11, 2016 after a long struggle with Parkinson's. She was born Violet Margaret Sarah Bickett on Dec. 19, 1931. She attended school in the Carrington area and was the youngest of eight children. On Oct. 16, 1949 she married Eugene Boom and together they farmed just outside of Marion for 55 years. In 2012 she moved to Touchmark in Bismarck to be closer to family. The last three years were spent at the Baptist Home in Bismarck due to her illness. Mom loved to garden, play cards and cook. She loved it when friends and family members came to visit and loved to cook up big holiday meals. The family loved her homemade dinner buns and caramel rolls. Violet and Eugene were very much involved in square dancing and in the Marion community. She sold Avon for 25 years. She is survived by her four daughters and one son, Shirley (Dwight) Cook, Mandan, ND, Julie Larson, Anywhere USA, Deborah (Richard) Burcham, Mesquite, NV, Nancy (David) Dahl, Sioux Falls, SD and Joel (Althea) Boom, Williston, ND, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, and infant son, her parents, Henry and Emma Bickett, her brother Merle, her sisters, Nora, Irene, Grace, Mary and Leola.
