Rick Haugen

Rick Allen Haugen was born December 1, 1967 in Valley City, ND, son of Harland and Myrna (Fogderud) Haugen. He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Walum, ND and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Valley City. Rick attended Valley City Public Schools and graduated May 1986. He enlisted in the US Marines in the spring of 1986 and reported to basic training August, 1986. During his 4 years in the Marines he was in San Diego, CA, Korea, Japan, and North Carolina. After serving in the Marines, he attended an aviation college in Conway, SC. He later started his own business called, “From Top to Bottom Remodeling.” He enjoyed his work and customers were always pleased with his work. Rick was an energetic caring person who was always willing to do whatever he could do for people. Rick was an active hunter, enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, water skiing and many other outdoor activities. He was blessed by his children. They will deeply miss their dad and loved him very much. Hannah, Erik, and Erin Haugen live in Maple Plains, MN and Brandon Kracht lives in Fargo. He is also survived by his parents, Harland and Myrna Haugen of Valley City, ND; sister, Kimberly (Tim) Kotaska of Hannaford, ND; brother, Wade (Andrea) Haugen of Grafton, ND; grandfather, Harry Haugen of Valley City; aunt, Connie (Kent) Peterson of Waverly, MN; uncles, Joel (Denise) Haugen of Dazey, ND and David (Mary) Haugen of Alaska; nieces, Rochelle Grenz, Christina Sayler, and Elizabeth Kotaska; nephews, Matthew Wanzek and Michael Wanzek; many cousins; and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Conrad Fogderud and grandmothers, Sylvia Fogderud and Ann Haugen. Rick died at his home on October 11, 2010.
