Mary Ann Smith

January 20, 1925 - September 17, 2008

Mary Ann was born to the country life in Sanborn, ND. She lived on a farm in the mild weather and in town (Sanborn). She attended the schools in Sanborn and high school in Valley City, ND where she graduated from the Laboratory High School and then completed two years at what became Valley City State University. She loved her association with the University and contributed monetarily as well as supporting with a spirit of loyalty. Later in life she completed the requirement for BA and MA in nutrition at Sacramento State University. Mary Ann was a strong supporter of education, serving on several committees in La Mesa, CA and Carmichael, CA. She enjoyed her associations in Toastmaster, achieving the level of Distinguished Toastmaster. She enjoyed being a member of the American Association of University Women and other civic organizations. She strongly valued her membership in the Presbyterian Church in Carmichael. Mary Ann was a world traveler living for several years in Germany. Both of her children were born in Germany where her husband was a high school principal with the U. S. Army Dependent Schools. She was predeceased by her mother and father, sisters Agnes and Zena, brother Robert, and daughter Juneal.
