Harold Tweit
January 20, 1924 - June 5, 2010
Harold Bernard Tweit was born on January 20, 1924 to Andrew and Helena (Legreid) Tweit on the family farm near Walum, ND. He started school in Oberon, ND and in the third grade transferred to Dover School, near Walum where he graduated from high school in 1942. He volunteered for the United States Navy and entered on July 3, 1942. He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945 as a Seaman First Class. He married Gladys Sorenson on May 14, 1955 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon, ND. He farmed near Hannaford for many years, retiring in 1981. In addition to farming, he worked as a cement finisher on all 150 missile bases between the Canadian border and Interstate 94 during the 1970’s. After retirement he lived in Dazey, Sibley, Valley City, Maddock, ND and most recently resided at the Aneta Parkview Health Center. Harold was a life-long member of Eidfjord Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Memorials are preferred to the Eidfjord Cemetery Fund. He is survived by his children: Joan Duckworth, Minto, ND and her children: Jackson and Tyler; John Tweit, Anchorage, AK and his children: Meghan, Kelsey and Carly; Julie Tweit (Jan Erickson) Andover, MN and her children: Valerie and Clark; Joe Tweit (Laurie) Anchorage, AK and their children: Hannah, Jakob and Olivia; his sister: Valborg Thompson, Devils Lake, ND; and several nieces and nephews and friends that meant so much to him. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Noralf, Theodore, Anna Kloster, Einar, Olaf, and Hjordis Poulsen. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff who has cared for Dad these last 3 years at Aneta Parkview Health Center.
