Douglas F. Larson
February 17, 1928 - January 30, 2018
Douglas F. Larson was born February 17, 1928 in Green Township the son of Ole and Frances (Gabriel) Larson. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Township and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Valley City. He attended Green School and Hobart School. Douglas worked for Art Falvey and then joined the United States Army in 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1948. In 1949, he worked for the State Highway Department followed by numerous construction firms. He began working for Fairmont Foods in 1954 which later became Cass Clay until his retirement in 1990. He married Arlene Larson on June 10, 1951. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Valley City, where he was on the church council and was a member of the American Vets and Eagles. Douglas is survived by his wife, Arlene of Valley City; four children, Linda (Richard) Klein of Grand Forks, Cindy (Kenny) DeWitt of Embden, Nancy (Dana) Noot of Marion and Alan (Janie) Larson of Valley City; a son-in-law, Mike Brand of West Fargo; six grandchildren, Matt Brand, Andrea Haugen, Adam Larson, Nick Noot, Brady Larson and Angela Larson; four great-grandchildren, Grady, Zoey, Maddox and Owen; one brother, Toby; a sister, Vivian (Roland) Stugelmeyer; two sisters-in-law, Ruthie Larson and Dora Larson and a brother-in-law, Herb Hoff. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Barbara Brand; brothers, Arnie, Gordon and James and a sister, Gertrude Hoff.
