Cheryl Snell

February 12, 1931 - March 9, 2013

Cheryl A. Snell passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, N.D. after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on February 12, 1931 to Adolph and Olga (Nelson) Anderson in Nome, N.D. She was raised on a farm just outside of Nome, N.D. and had wonderful memories of her childhood. Cheryl married a career military man and traveled extensively throughout the United States. She returned to Valley City, N.D. in 1978, after raising her four sons. She began a career working as ward secretary at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 2001. Her greatest joy was her family which included her sons, parents, siblings and their extended families. She, also, enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking. In later years she became a loyal Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan. Her faith and walk with Jesus Christ was the most important part of her life. She faithfully prayed for her family and those around her. Cheryl is survived by her sons, Rick Snell, Foley, AL, Russ Snell, Aurora, CO, Ron (Renee) Snell, Colorado Springs, CO and Roger (Tam) Snell, Longview, WA. Grandchildren Keith (Ophelia) Larson, Kimberly Linker, Kara (Justin) Grimmett, Tim Snell (fiancé Jocelyn) and Jonathan (Brandi) Snell, Chris Snell, Jackie Snell and Mitch (Vanessa) Snell and eight great-grandchildren. She also survived by her two sisters Jean Johnson, Valley City, N.D. and Renee Kennedy, Bemidji, MN and brother Gary (Virginia) Anderson, Minneapolis, MN. Cheryl was preceded by her parents, a son Robert Snell and brother Ronald Anderson. A memorial service is being planned for later this summer at St. Petri Cemetery in Nome, N.D. Cheryl will be inurned with her son Robert.
