Beverly Svenningsen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Beverly A. Colville was born on January 12, 1924 in Rogers, ND, the daughter of William and Lena (Tjosheim) Colville. She attended Logan School near Rogers. She graduated from College High School in Valley City, ND. Following her graduation she attended Valley City State Teachers College and attained her teaching certificate. She taught one year at Ashtabula School in Ashtabula Township north of Valley City. On July 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Svenningsen in Luverne, ND. They made their home on a farm north of Valley City where they farmed until moving into Valley City in December of 1996. She belonged to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the WELCA there. Bev was very active in the Ashtabula Homemakers. She loved to bowl, was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed reading and sewing. She made and decorated many wedding cakes over the years. She also had an extensive doll collection. One of her greatest joys was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beverly is survived by her husband, Robert of Valley City; 2 daughters, Pam (David) Narum of Casselton, ND and Charmelle (Gerald) Hughes of East Grand Forks, MN; 4 grandchildren, Peter (Darci) Strinden, Matthew (Jacqueline) Strinden, Lyn (Jennifer) Narum, and Melissa (Brian) Johnson; 10 great grandchildren, Maxwell, Abigail, Kyra, Jaxon, Brock, Erika, Chase, Lauren, Kellen, Ashley; a sister, Mabel Anderson of Valley City; a sister-in-law, Jewell Colville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth Colville and Raymond Colville; and 3 sisters, Caroline Kunze, Geneva Richards, and Pat Fisher.
