Avis Janice Lenssen

March 24, 1927 - April 14, 2022

The memorial service for Avis Janice Lenssen, 95, Litchville, ND will be 2 pm Saturday, April 30, 2022, at First Reformed Church, Litchville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Litchville Cemetery. She passed away peacefully at Sanford Health Broadway on April 14. Avis Janice Boom was born March 24, 1927, the daughter of Clarence and Janet (Jongewaard) Boom. She attended Clark City School near Marion, ND until attending school in Marion, ND until the 8th grade. She obtained her GED in 1967. Avis was united in marriage to Bernard Lenssen on June 20, 1945. She was a cook at the Litchville School where she was known for her cinnamon rolls. Avis later became the secretary at the school. She joined the Litchville State Bank as a teller and worked there for over 20 years, retiring in 1988. Avis enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing, including making many quilts. She is survived by her four children, Sandra Wendel, Fargo; Paul (Sharon) Lenssen, Fresno, CA; Barbara (Daryl) Leistikow, Marion; and Vicki Lenssen, Fargo. Avis is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Avis was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; two brothers, Eugene Boom and Loren Boom; two sisters, Evelyn Kluvers and Colleen Reinstra; a granddaughter, Jennifer Alber; and a son-in-law, Dean Wendel.
