Ada Thompson Moe
March 3, 1924 - February 14, 2012
Ada LaVon Whipple was born to George and Frances (Schwamb) Whipple on her father’s homestead in NE Kidder County, ND on March 3, 1924. She attended grade school in a country school in Kidder County and graduated from 8th grade in 1938. Ada then attended High School at Hurdsfield, ND, graduating in 1942. She married Thorvald Thompson on December 24, 1942. To this marriage, 3 daughters were born. The family lived in Hurdsfield until moving to Velva, ND in 1954. Ada had numerous jobs including township assessor for 10 years, custodian at Oak Valley Lutheran Church for many years, painting, and senior companion for 2 years in Velva. Thorvald died on August 31, 1985. In 2003, Ada moved to Valley City, ND to be near family. She was involved in the Barnes County Senior Citizens Center there. This included the Senior Companion program. She served as president of the Advisory Committee of the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Valley City and sewed quilts for the church. Ada enjoyed sewing and visiting with people. Ada died on February 14, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ethel Morrison; and daughter, Elaine Fredrickson. She is survived by her sister, LaVerne Heilos of Paris, AR; daughters, Velora (Wesley) Robertsdahl of Kindred, ND and Estelle (Charles) Hanson of Valley City; grandchildren, Chad Fredrickson, Penny (Robert) Krebs, Sarah (Troy) Pruett, Marie (Andy) Larson; great grandchildren, Shane and Cody Fredrickson, Laurie Elaine “Lainie” and Benjamin Krebs, and Taylor and Brandon Pruett.
