Ronald "Ron" Moser

Ronald Richard Moser was born on July 28, 1959, in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Curtis Moser and Elaine (Rott) Moser. He was later lovingly raised by his father and stepmother, Dorthy Moser. During his early years, Ron spent several years being raised by his grandparents, Peter and Rachel Moser, who were among the most influential people in his life. Ron grew up in Medina, North Dakota, where he attended Medina Public School. As a child, he spent countless hours at the homes of Oscar Moser and Chuck Knetter, creating memories and lifelong relationships that he cherished. After graduating from high school, Ron attended Valley City State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. His love for VCSU never faded, and he remained one of the university’s most dedicated supporters throughout his life. Ron began his career selling advertising at KOVC Radio and later worked at Casey Stoudt Ford. In 1986, he found his calling in the insurance industry with Farmers Union Insurance. Most recently, he was employed with Southeast Transit. No matter where he worked, Ron never met a stranger. His warm personality, quick wit, and gift for conversation allowed him to connect with everyone he met. A passionate advocate for Valley City State University, Ron’s dedication to VCSU extended far beyond his years as a student. In 2011, he was honored with the Valley City State University Alumni Service Award, an achievement of which he was incredibly proud. He faithfully served on the Vikings Booster Board beginning in 2001, dedicating 25 years of service, including nine years as Board President. His leadership, unwavering commitment, and enthusiastic support of VCSU athletics and its student-athletes helped strengthen the Viking Booster organization and left a lasting impact on the university community. Ron is survived by his stepmother, Dorthy Moser; his brothers, Dale (Sherry) Moser, Gary (Jessica) Moser, and Terry (Sara) Moser; extended family members Shawn Knuth, Chantel Knuth, and David Gray; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his dear friends, Peter and Cherie Schumacher and the Bob and Joni Bergan family. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Moser; his mother, Elaine Rott-Knuth; his sister, Paula; his grandparents, Peter and Rachel Moser; his sister Tanya Syverson and his grandparents, Richard and Clara Rott. Services honoring Ron’s life will be held at the Center for Fine Arts on the Valley City State University campus. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27. In lieu of flowers the family request you send donations to the Valley City State University Foundation.
