Ellenor T. Kristiansen

Ellenor T. Kristiansen, 81, lived life fully and died peacefully August 5 after a brief and sudden illness. Her parents, Albert and Tora (Myhre) Abrahamsen welcomed her into their family May 13, 1937 in Sogne, Norway. Ellenor immigrated to the US at the age of 17 and lived in New Jersey for a short time where she married K. Stanley Kristiansen. They had two daughters, Karin and Mary Ann and were married for 44 years. She made Fergus Falls, Minnesota her home for more than 50 years. She moved to LaMoure, ND in recent years to be near family and spent extended periods of time with her daughter and granddaughters in New Hampshire – making many good friends in both places. She worked for D.B. Rosenblatt before their closing and decided to return to school, one of the first “non-traditional” students at the Fergus Falls Community College in 1985. She completed her teaching degree at Moorhead State University and applied her learning to improve the lives of the clients she loved and deeply cared for at Lakes Homes & Program Development. Ellenor was a gentle guide to all who knew her and selfless and giving to everyone in her life. She loved her family and friends, teaching, spinning and knitting, gardening, and cooking. Her deep faith was the thread that wove through all of her joys and her relationships. Ellenor leaves behind a family who loved her dearly – daughters Karin (Dwight) Boom of Marion, ND and Mary Ann Kristiansen of Roxbury, NH; granddaughters Kari (Kristin) Fischer, Keene, NH; and Annika Kristiansen of Roxbury, NH; brothers Arvid (Marit) Abrahamsen, Sogne, Norway; and Albert (Edith) Abrahamsen, Caldwell, NJ; sisters-in-laws Solveig (Howard) Hansen, Ulla ‘Lillian’ Pelotte; brother-in-law Harald Justnes; best friend Connie Peterson as well as many greatly loved nieces, nephews, other family members, colleagues and friends. Memorial services will be held at North Marion Reformed Church at Marion, ND on August 25th at 10:30am and at Bethel Lutheran Church at Fergus Falls, MN on Sunday, August 26th at 3:00 pm. Memorials are being directed to Jerusalem Center for Bible Translators and Lakes Homes Group Homes, two places very close to Ellenor’s heart.
